With Miss Powell we’ve been learning all about time when our grandparents were children. We looked at timelines and events in the past, and enjoyed looking at toys from the 60s and 70s! We even tasted sweets that were popular back then and looked at old money. We looked at school life and decided that we didn’t want to go to school during that time because they were very strict!
Well done to our latest super learners who have impressed their teachers with hard work and some wonderful writing.
We have been busy writing the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen. We thought carefully about the beginning, middle and end of the story and tried to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Some of us even tried using and!
This morning we had a lovely breakfast together! We tried Spanish sangria (non-alcoholic of course) with peaches and strawberries, and a French croissant to soak it up. Then we practised speaking Spanish! Ask us how to say please and thank you!
Today we have been learning all about Spain!
We practised some traditional flamenco dancing.
We learnt the colours of the Spanish flag.
Ask us which colourful foods they eat…
We are proud of all the children for how hard they have been working in Year 1. We had our first Key Stage 1 assembly on Friday and two children from each class were picked as ‘super learners’. This means they have really impressed their teacher with their work in class. It could be that they have tried really hard, are listening and doing the right thing or that they have amazed their teacher with what they can do.
Well done to our first four super learners!
Keep an eye out for who cold be next!
We have been very busy this week rewriting the story of The Bear in the Cave by Michael Rosen. To help us with our writing we learnt the story off by heart and added actions in. We hope you like our performance!
REMINDER – Monday 25th of September is Europeon Languages day, your child can come to school in the Spanish colours of red and/or yellow! Adios!
We have sent home your child’s red homework book today with a number formation activity in. Please remember homework in Year 1 is compulsory and must be completed in order for your child to earn stickers towards their effort card grade.
Check the inside cover of their book for a little explanation about homework! Any questions please ask Miss Plant or Miss Burke.
Have a lovely weekend!
This week we have been using the Numicon to find different way of making numbers. Check it out!
